Technicians performed tan delta testing on the HV bushings of a 230 kV transformer in Mexico using the CAPTAN 12 device, with a focus on accurate insulation assessment under field conditions.
The tan delta testing HV bushings process benefited from CAPTAN 12’s high-voltage AC injection capability (up to 12 kV RMS), enabling stable and reliable measurements even for large-capacitance HV bushings. In addition, CAPTAN 12 provides high-precision measurement of tan delta (±0.005%) and capacitance (±0.05%), which is critical for detecting small insulation changes at an early stage.
Furthermore, CAPTAN 12’s frequency sweep capability (1–500 Hz), allows deeper analysis of insulation behavior beyond standard power frequency testing. This feature helps engineers better evaluate aging mechanisms and moisture-related issues.
